“My First Busy Book” (Little Simon, December 2015) is a wonderful interactive book. It has vivid multi-colored artwork by Eric Carle. It includes touch-and- feels, lift-the-flaps, and mirrors. Children will love to participate while learning early concepts such as shapes, colors, numbers, sounds and so forth. “My First Busy Book” is very well made, and will keep your young kids engaged while enjoying these simple and playful concepts.
I love this new lift-the-flap book, “Peekaboo Pals A to Z” (Silver Dolphin, April 2016). It is sturdy and colorful and very clever. Each page has a letter which opens to an amusing anecdote such as “A is for alligator admiring some art” and “J is for Jaguar juggling jelly beans.” Your kids will laugh out loud at as the animals encounter these silly situations.
In yet another rendition of the classic nursery rhyme “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” (Applesauce Press, November 2015), is this wonderful book sub-titled “A Spinning Star Pop-Up Book.” The silvery shiny star sparkles and spins throughout cut-outs on each page. Mom gently puts her son to sleep as they watch the shimmery star. It is a lovely and well constructed book.
